Description

PROGRAM:

Jim McGrath, Discovery SVP of Global Engineering

Join us at the DTTC in Sterling, VA for a look at recent upgrades to Discovery's origination and uplink facility. Opened originally in 2005 to host broadcast operations for Discovery’s U.S. and Canadian networks, in recent months the facility has assumed playout and uplink for Discovery’s Latin American and U.S. Hispanic networks--now reaching 50 countries in the Western Hemisphere. Learn how the Discovery team overcame the technical risks and challenges of moving existing playout from one facility to another while maintaining distribution of domestic broadcasts. Also on hand for questions will be representatives from Grass Valley, Evertz and CEI, the key equipment vendors and integrator for the project.

Due to the large number of people expected, tours will run in two groups after the presentation. The approximate schedule is as follows:

6:30-7:15PM Guest Check-in/Networking/Dinner

7:15-7:30PM Announcements/Dinner

7:30-8:30PM Technical & Operations Presentation

8:30-9:00PM Groups A, B, C tours

9:00-9:30PM Groups D, E, F tours

PLEASE NOTE: We Must provide a list of Attendees to Discovery 48 hours in advance.

DIRECTIONS:

The DTTC is located near Dulles airport, a few turns off of VA Route 28. Take Sterling Blvd to Shaw Rd, DTTC is at the corner of Shaw and Terminal Drive.
